Our Wedding
As you may know we tied the knot last Summer. Our wedding was an intimate family affair, which took place in Sweden & was celebrated over two days
Love one another, but make not a bond of love.
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup, but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread, but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone.
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only The Hand of life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together.
For the pillars of the temple stand apart.
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

Registry Ceremony
Our registry took place at Wira Bruk, a quaint gated village where Jens’ mother spent her Midsommars as a child
The ceremony, with its idyllic setting, was blissfully sweet. We said our ‘I Do’s with our families as witnesses.
After the ceremony we took some family photos, before enjoying a light Swedish lunch.
Registry Details
Our wedding was filled with personal touches over the two days, handmade by our family and us.
Bouquet: arranged by Jens, as per Swedish custom. Flowers used were taken from his family garden
Jewellery: crafted by Hannah’s sister, using the same pearls as the bridal shoes
Dress: Sewn by Hannah’s mother
Purse: A gift Hannah received on her 23rd birthday
Pocket watch: Engraved with our initials and anniversary date
Nikah
On the 19th July, we had our nikah, the signing of the Islamic wedding contract, which took place in Stockholm’s archipelago.
Following the sunnah, the bride’s father conducted the ceremony. The nikah certificate was signed, we said our vows to each other and exchanged our rings.
We ended the day at the Island’s beautiful restaurant for a celebratory meal, where Jens’ father delivered a wonderful toast.
